Me and my wife always wanted a King Charles Cavalier. We are aware that they are hard to get and the price can be high, therefore we saved enough money for about a year and we were contacting breeders in New England to get our puppy, in this case we talked to Joan Curtiss.
Joan told us it was $3,000 and wanted a $500 security deposit. We agreed and sent her $500 to her home in Glastonbury, CT. We did it happily and were excited for our puppy. This happened in July 1st and everything seemed to be in order.
We usually checked and text Joan to see how everything was going, it took her always hours or days to answer, which could be worrying if you pay a security deposit to somebody you don't know, but we thought everything was ok when she replied.
Two months later Joan sent us an email saying that the price was $4,000. Yes, she increased the price by $1,000 and after I begged her to go back to the $3,000 she said it was going to be a final price of $3,500.
Here's the thing: we wasted 2 months of searching for a puppy this summer while she had our deposit, we sent her money (which she at least returned) and after all the begging she said "where should I send it?" by it, she meant the check. She did not honor her word and if you are reading this and want to get a puppy from her I suggest you TO STAY AWAY FROM JOAN CURTISS. She does not honor her word.
Joan runs a cold and heartless business with her breeder. We could have had our puppy now but because of the 2 months we wasted now is very hard to find a puppy in fall, at least in New England.
Again, stay away from her.
